FIFTY YEARS OF ITALIAN CUISINE

This exhibition presents the evolution of our culinary tradition over the last fifty years, through valuable images and texts. The show firts opened in 2003 in Milan on the occasion of the celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Accademia Italiana della Cucina and has since been on tour around the world. It is aimed especially at the younger audience, which can follow the route of the evolution of the Italian cuisine and gastronomy through a preordained, ideal itinerary.

FRANCESCO ROSI RETROSPECTIVE

Widely known and respected both in Italy and abroad, for half a century Rosi continued to practise an intensely charged, politically engaged and socially committed cinema, which has quite justly earned him the title of Italy's cinematic poet of civic courage.The director himself will present the festival which is realised in collaboration with Institut Français, Cinecittà Holding, Ministero Affari Esteri, Ministero Beni Culturali. MAZZINI AND THE PHILOSOPHY OF MUSIC

Guitar concert by Marco Battaglia dedicated to Giuseppe Mazzini, who was profoundly sensitive to musical language and was himself an accomplished amateur singer and guitarist as well as author of critical essays on the philosophy of music. The programme proposed by Battaglia includes pieces by Paganini, Giuliani, Regondi, Verdi, Mertz and Legnani, all mentioned in Mazzini's letters and writings as his favourite composers.

GIUSEPPE MAZZINI AND THE GLOBALISATION OF DEMOCRATIC NATIONALISM, 1805-2005

Nationalism has become one of the most influential and truly 'global' ideologies over the past two centuries. Its rise has been accompanied by periodical revolutionary outbursts. The proposed conference will focus on one of the most influential among the 'prophets' of democratic nationalism, Giuseppe Mazzini. With the participation of acclaimed Italian and international scholars. Closing speech by Prof. Marcello Pera, President of the Italian Senate.

HOW ITALY HELPED TO WIN THE COLD WAR: RICHARD GARDNER MEETS ALESSIO ALTICHIERI

Richard Gardner, American Ambassador to Rome from 1977 to 1981, presents his latest book Mission Italy (Rowman & Littlefield) and meets in conversation with Alessio Altichieri, London correspondent of 'Il Corriere della Sera', to talk about the political and social situation in Italy today and in the last decades of the 20th century.
